Soccer tourney draws 40 teams

Jan 2003

FORTY teams of youths and adults from the Methodist Welfare Services’ affiliate organisations converged at the Marina South Field on Nov 9, 2002 for the MWS 5th Annual Soccer Tournament.

Started in 1998, the annual tournament serves as an opportunity for the MWS to raise awareness on social concerns and volunteerism, and as a fund-raising opportunity.

Gracing the event was Mr Chan Soo Sen, Minister of State, Prime Minister’s Office and Ministry of Community Development and Sports, who commended the MWS for its “creative outreach” to the youths by engaging them in healthy activities.

The Methodist Children and Youth Centre Team and Foochow Methodist Church Team 1 were the champion teams.
